Rice samples of Bri rice 99 varieties were harvested at Rupsar Jabusa in Khulna Azizul Islam/ Own Correspondent/ Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension Department Khulna Kazi Jahangir Hossain inaugurated the cutting of sample crops in Rupsar Zabusa village at 10 am on Wednesday. Additional Deputy Director (PP) of Khulna District Agriculture Extension Department SM Mizan Mahmud was present at the time. Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Fariduzzaman said that 5 thousand 720 hectares of boro rice has been planted in Rupsa Upazila this year. So far, 1430 hectares of land has been harvested, which is about 25% of the total area under cultivation. The Department of Agriculture Extension is advising to cut the boro rice when it is 80% ripe. He also said, "This year, no disease has been seen in the boro rice, so a good yield of rice is expected. In Zabusa village, rice samples of Bri rice 99 varieties were harvested. The sample crops were harvested following two methods. The dry yield in square method was 9.16 tons/ha. And dry yield in circular method is 9.33 tons/ha. The yield is available. Deputy Director Kazi Jahangir Hossain said that since the crop has been harvested, high yield has been obtained. Therefore, initiatives should be taken to expand this type of rice among the farmers in that area. At this time, Agricultural Extension Officer SM Ferdous, Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officer Himadri Biswas, Statistics Assistant, Farmer Sultanur Rahman and many others were also present.
